One of my personal favorites from the Ninja Tunes label returns! Bonobo recently teased us with first single 'Cirrus' and have now announced 'The North Borders' - His follow-up to 2010's 'Black Sands'.

By the time plays London's legendary on 28th November 2014, the epic career-defining tour around his latest album, the band will have travelled 180,000 miles, taken in 175 shows in 30 countries across 3 continents over 18 months in front of 2 million people. This will be released in deluxe packaging with a CD, a 70 page hardback book of photographs and stories from members of the band, as well as a bonus DVD featuring glimpses of hi-speed photography. There will be standalone CD and 2LP edition too, it’s an exhaustive, beautifully captured record of the show.

The audio and video were recorded and filmed at in London and in the incredible Pula Arena, a genuine Roman Amphitheatre. In addition, some of the tracks on CD are handpicked from breathtaking live radio sessions that happened whilst on tour. Packaged with the DVD will be moments of documentary footage filmed as the tour reached California. On November 28, 2017 Migration was nominated for Best Dance/Electronic Album at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards; the single 'Bambro Koyo Ganda' (Feat. Innov Gnawa) was nominated for Best Dance Recording. Green continues his periodic use of vocalists to transform his ideas into full-fledged pop songs.

The results in the past have been hit-or-miss, but he finds his stride here. Nick Murphy’s (fka Chet Faker) “No Reason” is less interesting, though it’s easy to imagine how it (or “Surface” for that matter) could become a club hit in either current or remixed form.

All told, Migration is an impressive improvement over *The North Borders, *and easily the most listenable record of Bonobo’s fifteen-plus year career.
